Endless Days of Summer

December 15, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

Summer is actually my favorite season and on the list of one of my favorite people to know. We have a long history together which has cultivated to a great working relationship. I often smile when reviewing the work we've done and recalling conversations we have had to conjure such remarkable (in my own opinion) work. If it weren't for Summer I wouldn't be able to develop my skills nearly as well, she's been with me since my work would be regarded as "novice" and "crude."

Just hearing Beyonce's "Flawless" song she reminds me of a line (similar to my friend Angel in tomorrow's post!) that says , "I woke up this way!" Even though make up has been used for our shoots, she is a natural beauty. Anyone who comes in my house can see a metal 16x20 print in my living room and they say "Who is that!?  She's beautiful," I smile and reply, "That's Summer!"

Our parents have known each other since their younger days of modeling and make-up and its great to see a generation of talent passed on to their offspring. I hope we always work together because she's such a talented model that takes direction, themes and initiative for a great shoot. (Meaning we don't have to worry about it last 2-3 hours!!)

Wow, so finally to get to the point:

Summer and I have been working on a project and we are about halfway through. I promised not to release many photos from the project until it is finished (in fact I want to have it published into a quality book, maybe even add some narrative, prose or poetry to it.) This shot comes from our "Vanity" shoot and we have completed each shoot in-house thus far (my basement, living room, dining room, bathtub, and backyard). I have (had) a Koi pond in my backyard and the object was to capture the reflection in the pond water, hopefully receiving enough ambient light to capture her focused face through the waters,...so NO Photoshop... just the effects of the stirring waters, (you can even see the Koi in the water).

Enjoy and thanks Summer!
