This is a funny story. Well, not really funny, but the subject I have in front of my viewfinder is one to make you laugh. Like Darien, this cat and I go really far back, farther than most. I have know Benjamin Broedel since the days of neighborhood kickball and hide-and-go-seek. We just laughed about our neighborhood crushes and caught up on our family business than it was time to work.
Never have I laughed while shooting as much as I did a few days ago. I did not have many expectations for the shoot because we coordinated it in short notice, but with the open mind we created some frames that state what this laugh artist is trying to convey. One thing I appreciated the most about this shoot was the dialogue as we progressed through the night shoot. Instead of sitting down getting a beer to catch up, or hashing it out as we are in passing I truly get to hear his story. Although I know Ben, which made the shoot so easy to work through, I also don't know him because life takes us on our own journey. I like that life crossed our paths and I had the honor of reconnecting, supporting and framing this young man's portrait.
If you're ever in Scranton, PA... or Ben finishes the last of his facebook page. Check him out, support this stage nomad and trust me, you will laugh.
