This image was taken a few weeks ago as I was pushing my father to hike before autumn released its colors from our presence and the browns (death) overtake the hues. In Baltimore, around Baltimore, even on our way to the Great Falls Park (home of the C&O Canal) there was a mosaic of beauty streaming along the highways and subsequent landscapes.
When we arrived I was disappointed to see most of the color had been flushed from the leaves hanging on to branches for dear life. Their final claim to the season had been made and removed. This was not going to ruin my mood nor my composition! I found areas of rich color and vibrant hues but they were not surrounding me, (great a challenge). It was also fun to hike along the riverbed, (not on the Billy Goat Trail which is arduous in itself) so by the end of the hike you can bet I was exhausted, pooped, fatigued, worn out, limp, dead whatever it was I felt comatose.
Well getting up at 4:30 proved to be worth it on another cool crisp morning because witnessing the the sunrise with my father on this hike was truly magical and worth every ache afterward.
